The Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA) Applauds Governor Newsom and Legislators for State Budget and State School Bond
Sacramento, CA—The Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA) thanks Governor Gavin Newsom and the State Legislature for their support and commitment to public education, especially during these difficult fiscal times. The recently approved state budget and statewide school facilities bond take significant steps forward in meeting the needs of students attending school in California’s small and rural school districts.
These recent actions prioritize investments in school facilities, climate resilience, and community safety. By allocating funds specifically for small and rural schools to modernize facilities, ensure clean water access, and support wildfire and flood prevention and recovery, the state has taken important steps to protect and enhance the environment for students attending small and rural school districts.
SSDA also recognizes the collaborative efforts of Senate President pro Tempore Mike McGuire and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, along with Senators John Laird, Josh Newman, Ben Allen, Lena Gonzalez, Monique LimĂłn, Steven Glazer, and Scott Weiner, who have been instrumental in advancing legislation that supports these vital initiatives.
SSDA remains committed to advocating for its member small and rural school districts across California by actively engaging with state leaders to ensure that funds are effectively utilized for the benefit of students living in these communities.
