Computer Science for Northern California

CS4NorCal, a professional learning and research project serving over 100 schools in Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta and Siskiyou counties since June 2021, promotes equitable access to computer science (CS) education for small and rural schools. The project brings resources and builds capacity and partnerships to create opportunities for students. Who needs and will use CS: Everyone!

What is CS4NorCal?

CS4NorCal is a regional project sponsored by the California Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA) to create K-12 computer science pathways for students in small rural schools, including a commitment to:

Co-design a model to implement CS pathways with rural CA schools, districts and county offices of education
Train up to 265 teachers -- and their administrators and counselors -- to teach and support CS pathways
Evaluate the process in order to create a pathway development model that can be replicated in other small rural schools and districts
