State Board of Education (SBE) Seeks Applications to Fill Vacancies on the Advisory Commission on Charter Schools (ACCS), California Practitioners Advisory Group (CPAG), Advisory Commission on Special Education (ACSE), and Instructional Quality Commission (IQC).
Advisory Commission on Charter Schools
The State Board of Education (SBE) is currently seeking applications to fill positions on the Advisory Commission on Charter Schools (ACCS). The role of the ACCS is to support the SBE. The SBE has policy-making authority on a number of issues related to individual charter schools and the California charter system as a whole. Upon request by the SBE, the ACCS shall advise the State Board on all aspects of the State Board’s duties under the Charter Schools Act of 1992. All applicants must currently meet one or more of the categories listed below:
· School district superintendents
· Charter schools
· Teachers
· Parents (guardians)
· Members of the governing boards of school districts
· County superintendents of schools

California Practitioners Advisory Group
The State Board of Education (SBE) is currently seeking applications to fill four positions on the California Practitioners Advisory Group (CPAG), to provide input to the SBE on ongoing efforts to establish a single coherent local, state, and federal accountability system. The advisory committee serves as the state’s committee of practitioners under federal Title I requirements. Applicants must currently meet one or more of the practitioner categories listed below:
- Representatives of authorized public chartering agency
- Educational Researcher
- Specialized instructional support personnel and paraprofessionals
- Teachers from traditional public schools

Advisory Commission on Special on Special Education
The SBE is currently seeking applications to fill one position on the Advisory Commission on Special Education. Strong preference will be given to parents of a child or young adult with disabilities. All applicants must provide evidence of demonstrated knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) laws and regulations. Instructional Quality Commission Recruitment
The State Board of Education (SBE) is recruiting applicants of currently practicing teachers and/or leaders with experience and expertise in arts, health/physical education, mathematics, and world languages to serve a four-year term on the Instructional Quality Commission (IQC). The IQC member application information is available at https://www.cde.ca.gov/be/cc/ab/iqc-recruitletter2019.asp. The deadline for submittal of the application and all required documents is noon on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
In addition, this is the inaugural year the SBE will be appointing one student member to serve a one-year term on the IQC. Any student who is a California resident enrolled in a public high school for a minimum of two consecutive years and will be a senior in good standing for the 2020–21 school year is eligible to apply. The deadline for submittal of the IQC student member application and all required documents is noon on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
